From balance bikes to budding EWS stars of the future, we've got races for all the kids to enjoy on Saturday 4th June 2022

EWS-KIDS at EWS Tweed Valley

EWS-KIDS gives the young rippers the opportunity to ride at the same EWS Race as their mountain biking heros.

On Saturday 4th June, we'll one more have fun, non-competitive races for the younger kids, right up to fully timed, competitive races for the EWS pros of the future.

The race trails are at Festival Village so offer a great spectating opportunity for all the family! There will be medals and EWS goodies as well as a chance to get onto the official EWS podium!

A non-competitive event for tots on balance bikes and first pedal bikes, brought to you by Frog Bikes.

This mellow trail will be right next to the Festival Village, giving our youngest riders, maximum fun, a great atmosphere and easy access to all the amenities their parents/carers will need.

The Groms will get the chance to ride one of the EWS-KIDS enduro stages, on a solo time trial. It's all about having fun and getting your time in a non-competitive race environment.

A mountain bike with minimum 20" wheels is required.

Shred Squad
7-12 years old

The Shred Squad will ride two EWS-KIDS stages! First, a solo time trial, then a downhill slalom. Like the Groms this is all about having fun and getting your time in a non-competitive race environment.

A mountain bike with both front and rear brakes is required.

EWS Rookies

9-16 years old

As the stepping stone from EWS-KIDS to the main EWS races, this category is where the serious fun starts for competent junior riders.

There will be 3 race stages for the EWS Rookies, a solo time trial, a downhill slalom and a technical stage. This is a competitive event, a taste of what a real EWS race is like. Get your times, have fun and be in with the chance of winning some prizes.

A mountain bike with front suspension and two working brakes is required.

Advanced Youth Riders

A big thank you to the local cycling clubs for delivering EWS-KIDS on our behalf. For us it's important that we work at the grassroots level of the sport to support and bring on the next generation of champions, and to continue to make it more inclusive and accessible for all.

These organisations and the individuals within them are helping us achieve this.
